Happy Anniversary to Us!

I am happy to announce that my husband and I had our ten year anniversary this past weekend! It doesn't feel like ten years but we are still in love and happy :)

We look forward to many more years together!

Social Media Goodness

I have been researching a few social media sites and will be using them to announce a game that I am producing with my partners. It seems to me that you can do a lot of marketing for free and anybody can do it. I have also paid for a couple of consultants to share their knowledge with me about social media and they tell me to keep it simple and get to know the community you are interested in. The other bit of advice is not to shove your product in people's faces. I know that I wouldn't want someone to do that to me.

I have already created a business fan page on Facebook and so far it is great to connect with our community and to share our excitement about our game! We share artwork from the game that has not been released yet and the response is very positive. In a week or so we will be announcing beta testing and other news.

Twitter is another outlet we will use for our game as well as blogs and You Tube. It will be exciting to use all of these media tools and I look forward to sharing our project with the world. It's not just a game that you can play on Facebook (our game is called Cold War Clambake) it's an intellectual property that crosses into other media platforms.

There is a ton of information out there and lots of great people that are willing to share their knowledge with you. Just be sure to ask them nicely :)

Uh what happened?

My last post was about trying out disc golf but I haven't tried it yet. I know it's been a few weeks but it's been raining a lot and instead I was organizing my storage unit.

Oh well maybe I will try disc golf this weekend. Maybe.

Disc Golf Here I Come

Lately I have come to realize that I have to get some physical activity going in my life. I feel like my body is wanting me to do something other than working on my laptop. Sometimes when I stretch to grab a drink my bones pop. That could be a sign for me. Or that I need some calcium supplement.

My husband and I are thinking about disc golf. I have never heard of this before. But then again I hardly go outside unless its to water my plants. He played it a couple of times when he was in college but that was it. He found it interesting.

Today we went to Academy Sports & Outdoors store and had a blast looking at all the outdoor shit you can buy. I even tried on some roller derby skates. If the disc golf thing doesn't work out for me then I will go back and buy the skates.

We each bought a disc. But I bought my disc based off color and the animal that was on it. It is pink with a viper on the front. I'm sure this is not the proper way of getting started but I think I can make it work. I really don't know what I'm getting myself into and that excites me...a little.

A Simple Plan

I recently bought a t-shirt from Threadless and I really like it but it freak'n has a hole in the armpit area!!
The name of the shirt is called A Simple Plan. The design totally rocks.

I know that I haven't worn it that often. Or have I? No I haven't.

The hole is on the left armpit area and that is my weaker and shorter arm.

This is a good excuse to go to the craft store and buy supplies to sew the hole. Or I might let the sleeve fall from the rest of the shirt and go sleeveless.

Or I could just buy another shirt. I might do that instead.

What tha What!

It's September. When did that happen?

We still plan on launching this month and we are learning so much about this process. I feel that all the developers, artists, writers, and business colleagues have played an important role in this project. Being a start up is challenging but also producing your first project brings another level of stress!

There are days when I can't think straight but that's when I have to step away and get a grip. It's hard to turn off work when you work out of your own place. Working late nights into the morning has become the norm. We are making progress and can't wait to let you all know that our game is ready :)

The name of the game is Coldwar Clambake and you will be able to play it on Facebook. This particular game is part of our multi-franchise IP. It's the first project that will be released and as things get rolling and successful we will begin development on the next phase of this property. It's a well thought out plan :)

Thanks for the support!

I'm So Excited

This is an exciting time for me and my company, Big Daddy's Chicks Productions, LLC. We will be launching a game app on facebook in September!!

My partners and I are busy with the game but also being a start up. I have been researching how social media marketing will help us and look forward to my consultation with Shama Kabani.
She has her own company called Click to Client in Dallas and I am impressed with her social media knowledge. I look forward to hearing how she can guide us with our business!

Also in the works is an update to our website. That poor thing needs some TLC and thanks to Jeff Archer we are moving forward. I will announce when our website is ready.

The other thing I'd like to mention is that we are spotlighted on the Women in Film-Dallas website. Please take a peek at the interview and special thanks to WiF-Dallas for their support :)

Ok back to burning the midnight oil :)

Yikes! There is a tree in my lung

This is the weirdest story I have read. And the photo of the tree mixed in with that guy's lung is amazing to look at. Poor guy thought he had a tumor but it was a tree instead.

I wonder if they can plant that tree in his honor. Here is the link if you want to read this story.

Chelsea Handler

I just read Chelsea's book Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea and I laughed my ass off! My favorite chapter is chapter 3 (Prison Break).

Just imagining Chelsea locked up and trying to tell everyone that she doesn't belong there was hilarious.

It was funny to know that Chelsea was a liar in school and when she was nine she told people that she was going to be in the sequel to the movie Private Benjamin. I just think she was a creative young girl who was tired of her classmates bull shit. They were mean to her and called her a dog and sometimes bark at her when they saw her in the hallways. A-holes.

When I see Chelsea on her show it all makes sense now!! Who's laughing now?

Sunshine Cleaning was touching and made me laugh plus I am a fan of Emily Blunt

Creating your social media footprint

I read an interesting article about how recruiters will search out candidates who are on social networking sites like Linked In, Facebook, and Twitter.

They (recruiters) want to hire people that have more than just a certain skill set. They want to get people who will fit in with their company and by reading their blogs, tweets, or Linked In profile they can get a sense of their passions, work styles, and other valuable information.

Check out the article here: http://mashable.com/2009/04/08/social-media-recruitment/

The Fringe is back!!

I have been waiting for the Fringe to come back on. I really like all weird shit that happens on that show.

Special agent Olivia is a blonde bad ass and I dig her. If you haven't seen the show you can watch episodes on Fox's site: http://www.fox.com/fringe/

Go get some Fringe.

Give it your best shot Rena

Here I am writing my first entry. I am a little nervous but I will get over it.

So far being unemployed has it's ups and downs. The ups are plenty of sleep, flexible schedule, and access to the internet all day and night. While we are on the subject of the internet let me just say that I have a few accounts that I frequently use like Facebook, Twitter, and now this (blog). I really don't expect you to understand any of these social networking sites, but just know that I will respect you more if you actually use and understand them.

OK back to being unemployed. Now that you know about the ups of not having a job here is the ass-kicking downer of unemployment. No money. Need I say more? I don't think so.
